Due to the short rear-hinged doors, the Extended Cab’s back seat can only accommodate four passengers. As a result, legroom is severely limited in this vehicle. If you frequently need to transport big groups of people, the crew cab is the best option because it is easier to get in and out of and offers enough legroom for adults.
Engine
Regarding power, the Colorado standard engine is an automatic 6-speed with 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque in a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder. As an option, the base model can be had with the 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel. The six-speed automatic transmission remains, but the new model has 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Due to its motor, Chevy’s engine can do a lot of work even though it isn’t fast or responsive.
The only way to get the maximum 7,700 lb of towing power is front-wheel drive. If you don’t mind sacrificing a little performance, a 3.6-liter V6 engine is available on all versions. The costs for the WT and LT are $25,200 and $2,500, respectively. If you want a four-wheel drive, you’ll have to pay an extra $36,500 or $42,600 to get the Z71 or ZR2 extended cab. It’s not much more expensive to get a Crew Cab/Short Box combination than a standard Z71 at $34,800. A V6 engine costs $1,485 more than a V4 engine on the WT or LT. The 2WD LT starts at $6,915; the 4WD Z71 starts at $4,595, and the ZR2 is $3,720. It costs $3,515 extra to get the WT with an all-wheel drivetrain and $3,215 more for the LT.
